Hi, Ye,

I print two hard copies of two files you send me. (One with gsp 06042503). It is about circles inscribed in a quadrilaterals. And then you went on to talk about hexagons, three mid-lines concurrent. The date of your email if 06/05/09.

Can you send me that file again. I think they are all related to a hard problem you and Tian get later and want to submit it to American Monthly. I would like to get al the ideas, solutions, so I can get it done next month and send it out. (And the earlier quadrilateral problem too.)

不久前说及的圆外切四边形一题，请暂缓投寄《月刊》。因为觉得这题尚可再作进一步的挖掘，仅仅停留在现有层次还有而且，它包含有丰富的背景，有待弄清楚。

我刚才与吴伟朝通了一次长长的电话。此题原先是由他提出的，以前他同我说起过，但对其细节我却印象不深，原因是自己并未认真做过此题。这次与湖北的杨先义通邮件时，他又提及了类似的问题，于是引起我和田廷彦、唐传发的讨论兴趣。（06050601．gsp ；06051002．gsp）

田廷彦于这题最有心得，他通过一个较深刻的引理来处理这一系列结论。 他的基本引理是：

“设四边形ABCD的对角线交于P点，在射线PA、PB、PC、PD上各取一点A′、B′、C′、D′，满足PA×PA′＝PB×PB′＝PC×PC′＝PD×PD′。则A′D′＋B′C′究竟大于、等于或小于A′B′＋D′C′，取决于AD＋BC大于、等于或小于AB＋DC。”
