Optimismandpessimismarebothpowerfulforces,andeachofusmustchoosewhichwewanttoshapeoutoutlookandourexpectations.Thereisenoughgoodandbadineveryone’slife—amplesorrowandhappiness,sufficientjoyandpain—tofindarationalbasisforeitheroptimismorpessimism.Wecanchoosetolaughorcry,blessorcurse,lt’sourdecision:Fromwhichperspectivedowewanttoviewlife?Willwelookupinhopeordownindespair?I
