The Sacred Torch for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games

To spread the Chinese culture and civilization, the torch for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games was designed to resemble an ancient paper scroll. As one of the four great inventions of China, paper has spread civilization to the whole world through the ancient Silk Road. And the whole torch is colored red and silver, embodying (showing) both traditional and modern Chinese elements. More distinctively, the lucky clouds that are said to bring blessings and harmony are covering the surface of the torch. Not only beautiful, the torch is so well-designed that it can withstand low pressure, low temperature and strong winds as well as heavy rain.

One possible version：

Born in Zhejiang Province, Luo Xuejuan, nicknamed Luoluo, is a 23–year–old Chinese female Olympic swimming champion. She went in for swimming at an early age and with her great efforts, she began to show her great talent in 2000. Three years later, she drew the world’s attention by getting three gold medals in Barcelona World Championships. At the 2004 Athens Olympics, she broke the world record and got the women’s 100-meter breaststroke champion. Due to health problems, Luo Xuejuan has announced retirement and she will study at Beijing University.
