Xu Xia-ke, a famous geographer in Ming dynasty, was born in 1587. In order to complete his great work Travels of Xu Xia-ke, during his life time, Xu Xia-ke had traveled and studied the geographical conditions of 16 provinces, having left his foot prints almost all over the land of China. In order to make a close and realistic study of the geographical conditions, he seldom traveled by wagon or boat, but almost did all the traveling on foot.
