I w ant to utilize my analy tical expertise to help people meet their financial goals. This is exactly w hy I am conv inced that I w ould be a v er y v aluable member of the Merrill Ly nch team.

What influenced you to choose this car eer?

My past experiences hav e show n me that I enjoy facing and ov ercoming the challenge of making a sale. Without a do ubt, once I hav e practiced my presentation and prepared my self for objections, I feel v er y confident approaching people I don't know and conv i ncing them that they need my product. Lastly, I like sales because my potential for success is limited only by how much of my self I dedicate tow ard my goal. If any profession is founded on self-determinism, it surely must be sales.

At what point did you choose this car eer?

I knew that I w anted to pur sue information sy stems technology about my sophomore y ear in college. It w as then that I realized that my hobby (computers) w as taking up most of my time. My fav orite courses w ere IT courses. I also realized that I w as doing computer-o riented w ork-study that I enjoy ed so much I w ould hav e done it for free.

What specific goals have you established for your car eer?

My goals include becoming a C ertified F inancial A dv isor so I can obtain a better w orking know ledge of financial research analy sis, w hich w ould allow me contribute to my client base as a better financial consultant since I w ould hav e that extra insight into the compa nies they are seeking to inv est in. A lso this is the foundation block to adv ancing my career to portfolio manager or ev en branch office manager.

What will it take to attain your goals, and what steps have you taken towar d attaining them?

I'v e already done some research on other w orkers at Merrill Ly nch to see how they achiev ed similar goals. I know that Merrill Ly nch encourages the pursuit and w ill reimburse for tuition of a graduate degree. I plan on pursuing a MBA to giv e me an ev en more extensiv e know ledge of business and financial analy sis.

H ow did you handle a challenge?

* During a difficult financial period, I w as able to satisfactorily negotiate repay ment schedules w ith multiple v endors.

* When the softw are dev elopment of our new product stalled, I coordinate d the team w hich managed to get the schedule back on track. We w ere able to successfully troubleshoot the issues and solv e the problems, w ithin a v er y short period of time.
