Intheyear2011,DatongMunicipalInstituteofArchaeologyconductedrescueexcavationstothreetombs(numberedas11DHAM13to11DHAM15)oftheNorthernWeiDynastyonthesouthsideofHeng’anStreetinDatongCity.Ofthesethreetombs,the11DHAM13wasanearthencavetombwithalongramppassageononesideofthesouthernwallofthechamber,andtheentiretombwasinaP-shapedgeneralplan.Inthetombchamber,acoffinwasplaced,inwhichahumanskeletonwasfoundlyingonlimeandwithalimepillowbelowtheskull.Fromthistomb,abrickepitaph,threepotterywares,astonelamp,anironmirror,anecklace,apairofgoldenearornamentsandsometalcflakesandsomewaterdrop-shapedbronzedecorationpieceswereunearthed.Themotifofthegoldenearornamentswasadoubleofdragonsconfrontingacrossahumanface,whichwasmadeveryelaborateinthestyleandtechniqueoftheCentralAsia,reflectingtheculturalintercommunicationbetweenChinaandtheothercountriesintheNorthernWeiDynasty.
