Will Tourism Bring Harm to the Environment?

The economy of China is booming in recent decades, so is the tourism. People spend more time on travel, appreciating various sceneries and cultures and broadening their minds. However, the increasingly flourishing tourism is damaging the environment by polluting the environment and decreasing species diversity.

For one thing, thousands of people pour into a scenic spot may cause serious pollutions. The more tourists there are, the more garbage they produce. If the tourists and government doesn’t pay enough attention to waste disposal, the local environment suffers. The more tourists there are, the more buildings such as factories, hotels, and restaurants, will be built. The discharge of the waste water and gas will certainly do harm to the soil, air and sources.

For another, the well-developed tourism also leads to biodiversity decrease. Because of the increasing number of buildings, resident species have less space to live and they may lose their homes. Besides, the pollutions have made it even tougher for resident species to survive. If things go on like this, resident species will be driven to the brink of extinction. As a result, we will have less diversity in the environment.

Tourism brings great joy to us, but in the meanwhile we have to take care of the environment before it gets worse. Therefore, some measures must be taken to improve the situation, for example, releasing laws, reducing pollution and propagandizing environmental protection.
