1. Teaching id eology

Reading is an interactive process that involves not only the decoding of the reading text but also the activation of the readers’ schema. So it is very important to guide the students to experien ce the whole process of reading. Besides, an effective reading involves readers’ appropriate reading skills and strategies. What’s more, reading should be related to other language skills, and it can be the input of speaking and writing.

2. Teaching material & Learning condition

The teaching material is Section B of Unit 11Book 2, Go for it. This is a reading lesson about school trip. This is the fourth period of this unit. Ss have accumulated certain amount of knowledge on this topic. They have mastered some vocabulary and sentence structures to talk about their school trip fluently. So it’s not difficult for them to understand the text. Besides, Ss in Grade 7 are on the way to maturation both physically and mentally, so their ability, sense of cooperation and competition need to be strengthened. Some of them, however, are still afraid of speaking English in front of the class. Therefore, T should pay attention to their individual difference and encourage them to communicate more in class.

3. Teaching objectives

3.1 Language knowledge and skills

Through the lesson, Ss will be able to

1) get the information from the reading passage and understand the structure of the writing.

2) master the new words “lovely, slow, fast, expensive, cheap, dark, everything ”and phrases “all in all, be interested in”

3) talk and write a mind map about “My trip”

3.2 Affect and Cultural awareness

Through the lesson, Ss will be able to

1) read and write a diary in English

2) realize the importance of understanding others’ opinions

3.3 Learning strategies

At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know where to find the topic sentence of a passage and how to use reading strategies as skimming and scanning to get information from the passage.

4. Anticipated difficulties

It’s difficult for Ss to analyze the structure of the texts and it’s also not easy for students to understand that we should respect others feeling and opinions by reading the texts.
