In a pub people can buy all kinds of drinks, from beer to orange juice. The Englishman’s favorite drink is beer.

In the countryside the pub is often part of an inn – a kind of small hotel . People can stay there for the night. The opening time of pubs is set by law. It might be different from place to place, but usually a pub is open from half past eleven to three o’clock and from half past five to half past ten or eleven o’clock. In the old days, children were not allowed to enter pubs, because when people drank too much they could become troublesome.
