prominent:(adj) very well known and important;immediately noticable 著名的，显眼的， 明显的 政府应该在宣扬人权方面起到更加重要的作用。

The government should be playing a more prominent role in promoting human rights.

at large:generally 普遍地，通常地 be at large:(囚犯)在逃，逍遥法外 这个群体不能普遍地代表全体居民。

This group is not representative of the population at large . This group can not stand for the whole population at large.

tend (vi): to be likely to behave in a particular way or have a particular characteristic 趋向， 玩往是 在该国的这个地区往往是冬天寒冷夏天温暖干 燥。 We tend to get cold winters and warm ,dry summers in this part of the country. In this part of the country the weather tends to be cold in winter, warm and dry in summer.

perceive (vt): to come to an opinion about sth, or have a belief about sth.认知，认识到 法国人是如何看英国人的？

How do the French perceive the English?

remarkable (adj): unusual or striking 不寻常的， 非凡的。 少数民族人民的生活得到了巨大的改善。

entertainment (n) : a performance or show that amuses, or diverts娱乐，娱乐表演，款待 要知道，美国电视的娱乐节目，有80%是好莱 坞生产的。 You know about 80 percent of all American TV television entertainment comes from Hollywood.

effective (adj): successful or achieving the results that you want 有效的 它是治疗头痛的特效药。

It's an extremely effective cure for a headache.

authentic (adj) :if sth.is authentic, it is real,true or what people say it is 可信的 他在场看到了发生的事，所以他的描述是真实可信 的。

He was there and saw what happened, so his description is authentic.

angle (n) : 1)角，棱角 正方形的内角是直角或90度角。 THe interior angles of a square are right angles or angles of 90 degrees.
