The analysis of Hamlet

Shakespeare is a great dramatist and poet during English Renaissance is one of the representative works of Shakespeare, was writtened in 1601. Hamlet is the protagonist of it. He is the prince of Danmark. His father, who is the king of the country was murdered by his brother, hamlet’s uncle. He seized the throne and married Hamlet’s mother by cheating. Hamlet’s father’s ghost told him the whole process about murder. Then Hamlet planned to revenge for his father and the ical image of Shakespeare’s humanist ideal.

There are two personal qualities about Hamlet. One is melancholy personality. A series of events which were ruthless and devoid of human feelings happened suddenly. This broke his believeness about the life, world, love, friendship, future. He didn’t be willing to believe it. For the purpose of seizing the throne, his uncle killed his father actually. He believed nobody even his fiancee, Ophelia. He pretended he was crazy. He killed Ophelia’s father. This occasional incident led to her crazy and suicide. When Ophelia’s brother came back, he saw his father died and his sister was crazy. He choose to duel with Hamlet. In order to kill Hamlet. His uncle smeared poision over the sword. Hamlet was killed by him.

Another one is hesitation. He knew that the great disparity in power between his uncle and him. He hesitated whether and how did he revenge. He did it just by himself, he was the only one person in the war

on his side. Influenced by his education, he was a philosopher, but not a doer. He was good at thinking, but not action. Finally, the hesitation of action led him to his destruction.

Although Hamlet killed Ophelia’s brother and uncle. Although he made his revenge came true. But he also lost his mother and his fiance even himself ,his country and his believeness. All the beauties were broken. All the people were died.
