DESCRIPTION

TheTPS6303xdevicesprovideapowersupplysolutionforproductspoweredbyeitheratwo-cellorthree-cellalkaline,NiCdorNiMHbattery,oraone-cellLi-IonorLi-polymerbattery.Outputcurrentscangoashighas600mAwhileusingasingle-cellLi-IonorLi-PolymerBattery,anddischargeitdownto2.5Vorlower.Thebuck-boostconverterisbasedonafixedfrequency,pulse-width-modulation(PWM)controllerusingsynchronousrectificationtoobtainmaximumefficiency.Atlowloadcurrents,theconverterentersPowerSavemodetomaintainhighefficiencyoverawideloadcurrentrange.ThePowerSavemodecanbedisabled,forcingtheconvertertooperateatafixedswitchingfrequency.Themaximumaveragecurrentintheswitchesislimitedtoatypicalvalueof1000mA.Theoutputvoltageisprogrammableusinganexternalresistordivider,orisfixedinternallyonthechip.Theconvertercanbedisabledtominimizebatterydrain.Duringshutdown,theloadisdisconnectedfromthebattery.Thedeviceispackagedina10-pinQFNPowerPAD packagemeasuring2.5mm×2.5mm(DSK).
