1.Greetings
2.Sing an English song.
Step 2. Revision
1.Review the structure “Let’s go to the shop to buy ____”.
Write this phrase on the BB.
Remind the Ss that “store” and “shop” are the same.
Repeat the word “shop” with the word “store” on the BB and continue the drill.
2.Review “near” and “far” .Lead a dialogue.
3.Review the students that 1000 meters is a kilometer.
(Kilo is an English prefix that means 1000.)
Step 3.New concepts:
every, flag, How many ___?
1.Introduce:
a. Introduce “flag” with a real flag, or show a picture of a flag.
The students should be familiar with this word.
b. The student learned “How many ___?” as an oral concept.
Reinforce their knowledge with a drill.
c. Ask for ten volunteers, five boys and five girls to come to the front of the class. Give each girl a flag.
T:Look! How many people are there? One, two, three .
S: Ten!
T: Right!(Point to each girl, one at a time) Look! Does she have a flag?

T: Very good. Every girl has a flag.
2.Student book :
a. Review the story so far. Liming came to Canada to go to school.
Now he is getting ready to go home to China.
Look at the pictures in No. 2 .What is he doing now? Why?
b.Note the phrase “How far ___? ____ kilometers.”
and “How much? ____dollars.”in the lesson.
c.Note “expensive” and “cheap” in the lesson.
What do the students think these words mean?
Look for clues in the student book.
d.Note that LiMing says he’s going to buy a “surprise” for Jenny.
What is a surprise?
e.Play the audiotape as the Ss follow along their books.
