Some Companies simply use their headed paper and write a normal letter which they then send by fax, while other companies use special fax ‘cover
sheets’ which show all the necessary information. The fax message isnormally typed but when the message is very short or when companies
often work with each other, fax message are sometimes handwritten inless formal English.

Electronic Mail Many business now use electronic mail to communicate with customers and suppliers, especially if they have frequent contact. In general, email messages can be written as normal letters. Some general advice: 1. It is a good idea to send yourself an email first. That way, you can check that your name and your return address are correct, and that the message is displayed correctly. 2. Don’t write in capitals. In email, capitals are the equivalent of shouting! 3. If you are writing a reply to an email, don’t copy the original message back to the person who sent it , unless it is important to do so. 4. Don’t use long or obscure words for the sake of impression. Short and common words help to make the email easy to understand.5. 5. Unnecessary information wastes a reader’s time and gets in the way of your message, so be as brief as possible.
6. Do the recipients know the meanings of specialist words that you use? AFAIK FWIW and IMHO, TLAs are best avoild.
