一、一般过去时表示过去某一时候发生的动作或存在的状态。常与一般过去时连用的时间状语有:yesterday; the day before yesterday; ---ago; last---; in 1990,etc.

二、（一）be动词的一般过去时：

肯定句：主语+be动词的一般过去时（was/were）

否定句：主语+be动词的一般过去时（was/were）+not

一般疑问句：be动词的一般过去时（was/were）+主语

（二）there be 结构的一般过去时与动词的一般过去时的变化基本一致。
