TOPIC 1 Human feelings and emotions

A: Hello! How are you today?

B: Hi. I’m feeling very nervous.

A: What happened?

B: Nothing. I’d rather not talk about it. Just don’t ask.

A: Come on. Relax. Talk to me.

B: All right. I just had a test and I’m not sure how well or how badly I did.

A: There is no use worrying about it now. You’ve done test and you can’t change any of your answers. Don’t let it get to you. Better ignore these.

B: That’s true. I really should go home and prepare for the next test, but I’m feeling tired. A: Let’s go and get a coffee together. That will help you to wake up again!

B: Ok. I feel like sitting down and having a chat. How have you been recently?

B：As the saying goes, “One thousand audience has one thousand Hamlet”, I can tell that everyone holds a different notion ['n ( )n]见解.So, what’s your idea about it ?

A：I think that man can conquer nature .Nowadays, people can forecast weather in advance , build reservoir ['rez vwɑ: (r)]（水库）and so on .All of above show that we human being have the talent and ability to conquer nature.

B：I don’t think that we can conquer it because we have suffered seriously from the disasters at the latest several decades. In contrast, people can make use of nature to seek wealth as much as possible rather than conquer it.

A：That isn’t true, I think. In ancient times, our ancestors made skins of animals into clothing to cover themselves from cold weather, set fire for warmness and protect themselves from wild animals. And The Great Wall and the Pyramids ['p r m dz]金字塔 indicate the huge power of humans. Can we control the nature? We can!

B：However, I still insist on my own point of view that everything has its cause, we are suffering because we have done something unforgivable before. For example, disasters such as tsunami, flood, snowstorm ,earthquake happen more frequently, causing immeasurable loss to humans. A: Since we have do many damages to the nature and we also suffered a lot in return, we must do something to make up for it. I wonder what’s your opinion?

B：I agree that nature is so mysterious and more powerful than what man have know about it. Whether it is a man-made disaster or natural disasters, those of this things are terrible, so, please take good care and protect our earth.

A：Yeah, I agree with you on that point.

TOPIC 4 Job hopping

A: Have you heard about it? Recently people hold a heated discussion about whether stick to one job or change jobs constantly. What do you think of it?

B: Well, in my opinion, I think people should change their jobs constantly. In that case, people can try something new and experience more. It is really good to have so much experience.

A: I see your point. But I hold my point that people should stick to one job. As you know, sticking to one job can ensure people an easy, stable and comfortable life. In this society, having a job is really hard, we should cherish it.

B: I know what you mean. However, changing jobs is much more challenging. It helps refresh our mind. We can find the pleasure in new jobs. As young people, we sometimes don’t know what we want to do. Changing jobs helps us to find out our own interest.

A: Well, I'm afraid I don't agree with you. You see, if we keep changing our jobs, we can't focus on our jobs. As a result, we can hardly get promoted. Besides, what we learn in the school is closely related to the occupations. It is meaningless to waste our time in all kinds of jobs.
