Terminology Terminology
The following is an explanation of the terms used throughout this guide:
Click
When you see “Click,” use the mouse to point and press the left mouse button. For example:
1. Click Startup.
The phrase “Click Startup” is
asking you to use your left
mouse button to click the Startup
button.

Choose
When you see the word “Choose”, move the cursor to the menu at the top of the window in which you are working. Use your mouse to select the menu item, and then select the sub-menu item.

User Steps and Font Styles
The steps that require user input, meaning an action or text to be entered with your keyboard into a field or at a command prompt, are numbered and indicated with bold, courier font. Object style is italicized text that indicates that the word is an on-screen object, such as a button or field, or any other noun such as a book, operating system, or software application. For example:

This will allow
you to enter
parameters for the search.In the above example, the first step is numbered to show the text you need to enter in the User Input http://www.77cn.com.cner is italicized because it refers to an on-screen field.
The next step is also numbered to let you know that another action is required. Parameters is italicized
because it refers to an on-screen button. The text under the numbered step provides additional information on that step.

Throughout this guide, you will see special icons indicating the presence of important messages. Each icon
and a brief description is provided:You should exercise caution when performing this task or step.
Explanations of why you should be cautious will be included.This information helps you understand the topic in detail. It is not necessary

Overview
Personalizing R/3 enables you to provide the R/3 experience preferred by your user community. In this document, we walk you through the personalization features and provide tips on how to effectively use them with your 3.1 R/3 implementation. The features listed in this document do not require any expensive code modification.
Features
Here is a quick overview of the various personalization features available in R/3.
Globals: Globals in R/3 enable you to pre-fill fields that often have single default values that apply across your entire R/3 implementation. Using Globals, you can define default values for all module program instances of fields that belong to a pre-defined list of R/3 Data Dictionary Domain.
User Parameters: User parameters supply defaults to R/3 fields of a particular user.
User Defaults: Using user defaults you can specify user-preferred characteristics such as printer, currency format, date format, etc.
