Several days ago ,some students from the U. S. visited our school. When we talked, I

discovered some differences in school life between the U. S. and China. For example, each class lasts fifty minutes in the U. S. It is a little longer than that in China. We usually have forty or forty-five minutes in each class. Another difference is that they have less break time between classes Besides, although most schools in both countries finish their morning classes at 12 o'clock, the students in the U. S. only have an-hour-lunch break, so they need to

eat lunch quickly. Their afternoon classes begin at 1 : 00 p. m and school is over at need to 3: 00 p. m. Then they take part in club activities or play sports.

Many Chinese students don't work during their high school years, while the U. S. students like to find a part-time job in their free time. They don't have a

dream job in mind. They think there is no difference between jobs. Working is a useful

experience for them and they make money at the same time. Some of them even take one-year full-time jobs after they leave high school and then go to college.

Americans are very direct people. When they want something, they say “yes” and when they don't, they say “no". If they want something different from what is given, they ask for it.

Here's an example. I arrive at someone's house and he gives me wine,I don't want wine. Maybe I don't like it or maybe I just don't want it. I will say “No,thanks. ” If everyone around me is drinking something, I would ask for something else,“No thanks. But I'll take a bit of tea if you have some. ” If I really want wine, I just say "Yes,thank you”. Unless they happen to know the Chinese customs, westerners will not ask you again and again after you have said you don't want it.

The first robots were invented in the 1920s. Robots have appeared in many American

films. In some films, they are stronger, faster and cleverer than people.

In real life, robots are mainly used in factories. They do some dangerous and difficult jobs for humans. Robots also help disabled people, for example, blind people. Today many blind people have a guide dog to help them. In the future, guide dogs might be robot dogs.

One kind of robot guide dog has wheels. It moves in front of the owner. It is very clever. It knows the speed of its owner's walk. The owner wears a special belt (带子). This belt sends instructions to the owner from the dog, such as “Stop here”,“Turn left"or "Turn right”.

In the United States, another kind of robot helps disabled people to take care of

themselves in their daily life. The robot hears the sound of its owner's voice. It follows instructions such as "Turn the page"or “Make a cup of coffee".

Robots are also used in American hospitals. They can do simple jobs. At on …… 此处隐藏:6340字,全部文档内容请下载后查看。喜欢就下载吧 ……
