21.ProductMarking

21.2Unlessanothermarkingformatisspeci edinthepurchaseorder,lengthshallbemarkedinfeetandtenthsofaormetrestotwodecimalplaces,dependentupontheunitstowhichthepipewasordered.Thelocationofsuchmarkingshallbeattheoptionofthemanufacturer.

21.3Heatnumber,lotnumber,runnumber,oracombina-tionthereofshallbemarkedattheoptionofthemanufacturer,unlessspeci cmarkingisspeci edinthepurchaseorder.Thelocationofsuchmarkingshallbeattheoptionofthemanufacturer.

21.4Anyadditionalinformationdesiredbythemanufac-turerorspeci edinthepurchaseorder.

21.5ForpipeNPS11 2[DN40]andsmallerthatisbundled,itshallbepermissibletomarktherequiredinformationonatagsecurelyattachedtoeachbundle.

21.6Ifpipesectionsarecutintoshorterlengthsbyaprocessorforresaleaspipe,theprocessorshalltransferthe

completeidenti cation,includingthenameorbrandofthemanufacturer,toeachunmarkedcutlength,ortometaltagssecurelyattachedtounmarkedpipebundledinaccordancewiththerequirementsof21.5.Thesamematerialdesignationshallbeincludedwiththeinformationtransferred,andtheproces-sor’sname,trademark,orbrandshallbeadded.

21.7BarCoding—Inadditiontotherequirementsin21.1,21.5,and21.6,barcodingisacceptableasasupplementaryidenti cationmethod.ItisrecommendedthatbarcodingbeconsistentwiththeAutomotiveIndustryActionGroup(AIAG)standardpreparedbythePrimaryMetalsSubcommitteeoftheAIAGBarCodeProjectTeam.

22.GovernmentProcurement

22.1Ifspeci edinthecontract,thepipeshallbepreserved,packaged,andpackedinaccordancewiththerequirementsofMIL-STD-163.Theapplicablelevelsshallbeasspeci edinthecontract.MarkingforshipmentofsuchpipeshallbeinaccordancewithFed.Std.No.123forcivilagenciesandMIL-STD-129orFederalStd.No.183ifcontinuousmarkingisrequired,formilitaryagencies.

22.2Inspection—Unlessotherwisespeci edinthecontract,themanufacturerisresponsiblefortheperformanceofallinspectionandtestrequirementsspeci edherein.Exceptasotherwisespeci edinthecontract,themanufacturershalluseitsownoranyothersuitablefacilitiesforperformingtheinspectionandtestrequirementsspeci edherein,unlessoth-erwisedisapprovedbythepurchaserinthecontractorpurchaseorder.Thepurchasershallhavetherighttoperformanyoftheinspectionsandtestssetforthinthisspeci cationwheredeemednecessarytoensurethatthepipeconformstothespeci edrequirements.

23.PackagingandPackageMarking

23.1Ifspeci edinthepurchaseorder,packaging,marking,andloadingforshipmentshallbeinaccordancewiththoseproceduresrecommendedbyPracticesA700.
