When something goes wrong, it can be very satisfying to say, “Well, it’s so-and-so’s fault.” or “I know I’m late, but it’s not my fault; the car broke down.” It is probably not your fault, but once you form the habit of blaming somebody or something else for a bad situation, you are a loser. You have no power and could do nothing that helps change the situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop focusing on whom to blame and start focusing the situation. This is the winner’s key to success.
Winners are great at overcoming problems. For example, if you were late because your car broke down, maybe you need to have your car examined more regularly. Or, you might start to carry along with you the useful phone numbers, so you could call for help when in need. For another example, when your colleague causes you problems on the job for lack of responsibility or ability, find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility or inability rather than simply blame the person. Ask to work with a different person, or don’t rely on this person. You should accept that the person is not reliable and find creative ways to work successfully no matter how your colleague fails to do his job well.
This is what being a winner is all about----creatively using your skills and talents so that you are successful no matter what happens. Winners don’t have fewer problems in their lives; they have just as many difficult situations to face as anybody else. They are just better at seeing those problems as challenges and opportunities to develop their own talents. So, stop focusing on "whose fault it is." Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just stepping stones for success.

It is true that people with better education are usually able to get better
paying jobs. In other words, they have more chances to choose a good job
while people with little or no education don't. It seems that the purpose of
education is to make people get jobs. But this isn't accepted by all people.
Some people may think that a person should spend the best years of his life to get education only for a way of living. This was probably one of the earliest reasons of education. In fact, if education is just a way of making a living, people don't need to spend so much time in school. People can get education for a living in a short time. Subjects like history and geography need not be taught to everyone. Even language and maths need not be taught in detail, either. Here it is clear that education is much more than teaching a man to get a way of living.
Education is well-rounded (全面的) and it is mainly for improving a man. It is not only to teach him to speak, read and write, but also to develop his creative thinking and other abilities. After that, it is to make him a wise man and thankfully enjoy the achievements of human. Education is to make a man lead a better life. Educated people are expected to be able to listen to good music, read good books, watch plays and take an interest in the world.
I would agree that making a good living is an important reason for education, but certainly not the most important or the main reason.
62. People with little education usually_______.
A. spend a long time in school B. have a good chance to get a job
C. spend the best years to choose jobs D. have fewer chances to get a good job
63. The earliest education was probably to_______.
A. make a man lead a better life B. teach a man to write and read
C. make people get a way of living D. teach people to read good books
64. It is expected that educated people will be able to_______.
A. accept education as a way of living B. take an interest in the whole world
C. develop their abilities to make plays D. learn subjects like language and math
65. The passage mainly tells us that_______.
A. education should make a man improve
B. people can get education in a short time
C. people should be able to get good paying jobs
D. all subjects are so important for a way of living

六. 任务型阅读。(共10小题,每小题1分,计10分)
阅读下面短文,根据短文内容完成表格中所缺信息,每空一词。
One of the most common questions I am asked is whether, when, and how to follow up after a job interview. Following up in some way is necessary. Yes, you can get a job without it, but if you compete with other top candidates(候选人), following up can sometimes help you when the other candidate doesn’t. Here’s how to follow up well:
Send a thank-you note at once. E-mail is fine for this and has the advantage of arriving faster, but handwritten notes are still appreciated (欣赏). And if there are many interviews(面试), send a thank-you note each time.
Find out their timeline. Hopefully, you asked about their timeline in the interview itself, but if you didn’t, follow up within a week to strengthen your interest and politely ask what they expect their timeline for a decision to be.
Be patient. Commonly, job seekers are too worried about the result. It doesn’t look worried to express your interest in the job or check in to ask about the timeline.
Don’t be nervous if you don’t hear from them at once. The hiring process often takes longer than a candidate would like, maybe the decision makers are out of town. If you’re past the time they indicated you would hear something, this isn’t necessarily cause for nervousness. Hiring often ends up taking longer than expected. Just politely follow up, explain you’re very interested but understand that hiring can take time, and ask if they have the latest timeline.
