一、状语。

状语是句子的重要修饰成分，在英语中，状语修饰动词、形容词、副词或整个句子。

二、状语从句。

状语从句指句子用作状语时，起副词作用的句子。

状语从句中根据其作用可分为时间、原因、条件、目的、结果、让步和地点等从句。状语从句一般由连词(从属连词)引导，也可以由词组引起。

三、状语从句的种类。

四、状语从句精讲。

【1.时间状语从句】

(1)When引导的时间状语从句：when译为“当......的时候”，引导时间状语从句，

表示主句的动作和从句的动作同时发生或者先后发生。When引导的时间状语从句中的动词，可以用延续性动词，也可以用。如：

A.When I woke up at five this morning, I saw the sun rising.【先后发生/短暂性动

词】

今天早上五点当我醒来的时候，我看见太阳正在升起。

B.When you are crossing the street, you must be careful.【同时发生/延续性动词】

你（你们）过马路时，一定要小心。

注意：当when引导的时间状语从句中，如果主句用一般将来时，从句要用一般现在时。

I will give you a present when you (come) to my home.

(2)While引导的时间状语从句中的谓语动词必须是延续性的，并强调主句和从

句的动作同时发生。并且while有时还可以表示对比。如：

A.While my wife was reading the newspaper, I was watching TV. (同时发生)

当我妻子正在看报纸的时候，我正在看电视。

B.Tom was studying hard while others were playing computer games.（表示对比）

当其他人正在玩电脑游戏的时候，Tom正在努力学习。

(3)as引导的时间状语从句, 主要表示“一边......一边......, 随着......等意思”如：

(1)Helen heard the story as he washed clothes.Helen一边洗衣服，一边听故事。

(2)We get wiser as we grow older.我们随着年龄的增长而变得更聪明。

(4)after “在......之后”与before “在......之前”引导的时间状语从句：如：

A.I will always work hard before I enter Peking University.在我考入北大之前我将

一直努力。

B.She showed many stamps after I got to her home.我到达她家之后，她让我看了

许多邮票。

(5)as soon as“一......就.....”。该时间状语从句表示从句的动作一发生，主句的动

作随即发生。如果主句表达的是一般将来时的话，该从句经常用一般现在时表示将来，我们常说的“主将从现”。如：

A.we began to work as soon as we got there.我们一到那就开始工作。

B.I will write to you as soon as I （get）home.我一到家就给你写信。

(6)since“自......以来”

表示自过去的一个起点时间到目前(说话时间)为止的一段持续时间。主句一般用现在完成时，从句用一般过去时。如：

A.Mr green has taught in that school since he came to china.

自格林先生来中国以来，他就在这所学校教书。

B.It is two years since he joined the army. 自从他参军已经两年了。

(7)till /until都可以作连词，连接时间状语从句。也可以作介词，与其它词构成

介词短语，在句中作状语。

①在带有till或until引导的时间状语从句的主从复合句里。如果主句用肯定式，其含义是“一直到……时”, 一般情况下，till与until可以互换。但是until

引导的时间状语从句可致于句首，till引导的时间状语从句不能至于句首。

如：

The young man read till/until the light went out. 这个年轻人一直在看书，直到灯熄灭。

Until you told me that, I knew that he his dishonest.直到你告诉我，我才知道他是不诚实的。

②not...until...其含义是“直到……才……”。

如：We won’t start until Bob comes. 直到Bob来了，我们才开始。

【2.条件状语从句】

时态：用条件状语从句时要注意时态的正确使用：如果主句表达的是一般将来时的话，主句用一般将来时，从句用一般现在时。

1. 表示状语从句由连词if, unless (=if not) 引导。

(1)If it doesn’t rain tomorrow, we will go hiking.如果明天不下雨, 我们就去远足。

(2)I will go to the party unless he goes there too.
