Coloursbasedontheabovebandsareprovidedforstar-burstsofages3Myrand600Myr,typicalofz≈3LymanBreakGalaxies,andTypeIandTypeIIQSOs,overthered-shiftrange2.5<z<8.5.Theresultsshowwhichcoloursaremoste ectivefordistinguishingbetweendi erentob-c2005RAS,MNRAS000,000–000
jectsandthetypicalvaluestoexpect,whichmaybeused
fortheplanningandanalysisofcurrentandupcomingdeepsurveys.
