Education Difference Between China and US

"Have you ever admired the life of the American high school students? Have you ever imagined doing whatever you like in your school life? " When ask any of the Chinese student, the answer will be "Yes". Why would this happen? And what's the difference of the education between China and America? Like we all have experienced, education is a important and tough part of our lives. Whether a person will be successful or not, all depends on the education they have. And what about the US?

As far as I am concerned, the basic difference is education system. Speaking of the education system in China, we have to talk about the collage entrance examination. If students fail the exam then they will not go to the dream collage, and no matter how well they did at high school. Can not go to the top-ranking collages means that they probably can't get the admissions of the big companines because of the education background. So this exam decides all their life. How tragegic! Then in the past of China, there were several limitations for school. Such as the tuition, the age and the background of the students. so in that case, some capable people couldn't go to school and make contributions to our society on account of these stupid reasons. But now it is getting better. China has been got through 5000 years' feudal education and haven't totally got rid of it yet. So the teachers choose everything for students to learn not even care if they are interested. However, in the opposite side of the Pacific Ocean, there is a different education system in the US. Although the American get into the collages also by means of the examination, such as the SAT, GPA, ACT, the collages will pay attention to the other abilities and

speciality, for instance the organizing ability, awards. Collage education is more common in America than China, so the students in the US have less pressure about the future and job. The class system existed in the world including the US. But benefited by the democracy, people from all ages can go to school without discrimination. And they can choose the most interesting subject to learn.

Then the teaching methods are also different. In the chinese classes, teachers are organizers. They control the whole class. They teach the students in their own way, as their own thoughts. Students can only study according to teachers ideas which result in the lack of own judgements. Marx said that "Practise is the only way to testing the truth." Nowadays, chinese teachers still attach importance to the books and theories. Even if the students know the theory of how to make a plane, without practising they still can't make the plane. And the most important thing is the atmosphere in the classes. Because of the boring books ,boring teachers and boring theories, class is becoming boring. Without participation of students, the enthusiasm will be decreased. In the US, teachers are inductors, and followers. They give the topic and let students control it. Students can move around the classroom to discuss and show conclusions to others. They are leaders. Teachers in the US also teach the books and theories, but after that they will spend more time practising what they learned. Put theory into practice is the most effective way of learning. So with the participation of students, the interesting method of teaching, the atmosphere in the classroom will be happy and interesting.

We have to say, family education is very important. In China, parents don't pay much attention to the family education. They send children into school at a very young age

because of busy work. when the children do something wrong or strange, chinese parents will scold and even punish them which may be kill the children's curiosity. Parents always worried about their children. So they want to control children's lives in order to prevent them from making mistakes. But what they do is trying to set back their independence. American parents pay much attention to the family education. They create a good environment for children. They barely punish children for making mistakes and they offer helps to correct the mistakes and also encourage children to try it again. They let them go when children are 18, and support them to do what they like. Less control, more freedom. I know there are quite a number of differences between education in China and the US. But education is on difference. We should learn from other's strong points to offset our own weakness and perfect the education.
