III. Main idea of the text The author came to Hiroshima for a report. He described what he saw and heard in Hiroshima. He went to hospital talking with a patient and found out that people still bear the wounds of bomb explosion.

What’s the author? How did he come to Hiroshima? Why did he come to Hiroshima? What’s his attitude toward Hiroshima? Why did he call his trip to Hiroshima a far greater adventure?

Language points1. I had a lump in my throat …… official might say. Paraphrase: I felt choked with emotion and overcome with some sadness which had no connection with what the stationmaster might say.

2. The very act of …… was for me a far greater adventure than …… Translation: 踏上这块土地,呼吸着广岛的空气, 对我来说这行动本身已是一次令人 激动的经历,其意义远远超过我以 往所进行的任何一次旅行或采访活 动。
