Dear Sir or Madam,

Youth Daily Oct.2

Technology, and business management. business communication skills, marketing and computer applications. I was especially fond of the communication skills, which enabled me to deal with people and things around well.

Upon graduation I engaged with HP China Branch as an assistant to the head of Marketing Department. My responsibilities consisted of carrying out market surveys, writing reports and organizing meetings within the department. This two-year experience has helped me a lot in many ways. In particular, I become increasingly aware of the importance of co-ordination and co-operation among co-workers. I also believe the experience will qualify me for the current vacancy in your company.

spoken English is also fluent enough to organize meetings in English, which was actually my routine work in HP. Most of my market reports were presented in English, as my former boss is a native English speaker.

A Letter to Editors

Directions: 假如你是李明,读到最近一期的中国日报

上关于不应禁放鞭炮的文章。请你就这件事给编辑写

一封信,发表自己的看法。

范文:

Oct. 20,2004

Dear Editors,

I have read in the latest issue of China Daily an article about an increasing number of people holding the view that firecrackers should not be banned during the Spring Festival. It says that as a traditional way to celebrate the New Year, setting off firecrackers is justifiably welcomed by most Chinese people. For it can add to the festive atmosphere and offer an outlet for people’s pleasure and excitement. It is also believed that it will bring good fortune in the coming year.

However, the tremendous noise and serious air pollution that setting off firecrackers makes go unnoticed. As a matter of fact, sometimes the quantities of fly ash, smoke and carbon are too great for local environments to disperse rapidly. Besides, setting off firecrackers is also a big threat to man’s life and property: every year there are many fire accidents and heavy casualties that are reported to be caused by it.

True, to change a custom is not easy, and some people are reluctant to do so, but it will pay in the long run if the setting off of firecrackers if effectively banned in the cities.
