The Role Imagination Plays in the Advancement of Science and

When asked about what role imagination，people normally respond by quoting the great scientist Albert Einstein, “Imagination far outweighs knowledge, for knowledge is finite, yet imagination infinitely holds the entire world, and is the ultimate source of knowledge.” Personally speaking, I can’t agree more.

Imagination serves as such an instructional guide in the development of human history. Imagination is like a beacon of hope directing human to a better future. For instance, when Wright brothers first conceived the idea of planes, what did they do first? Basically they did nothing except letting their imagination take wings, allowing it to fly in the landscape of reality.

Rather than constrains ideas, imagination liberates them. Imagination not only guides us to realizing the dream, but also widens the range in which ideas extend themselves. “Think big, Dream big” is the motto of Google over the past few years. What was emphasized was the fundamental culture of the company. Imagination is highly valued on the soil of Google, and dream big, we’ll help to water and fertilize the idea. And this is why Google Company miraculously excels in the fierce competition in IT industry. Imagination does pay enormously.

Imagination frees the mind, broadens the scope, and illuminates the path to be explored afterwards. The role of imagination in the development of science is absolutely indispensable.
