汉英禁忌语和委婉语的对比研究

摘 要

禁忌是世界各民族之间普遍存在的一种文化现象，禁忌规范了人们的言语行为与社会交际。而中西文化的巨大差异直接导致了汉英禁忌语的迥异。所以，无论是在英语还是汉语中，我们都会遇到一些因传统或社会风俗不同，会引起对方强烈反感，结果导致了有些词语我们要避免使用，就是禁忌语。由于禁忌语在应用上存在一些缺陷，就促使了委婉语的出现。禁忌语和委婉语作为两种不同的语言现象，它们既有区别又有联系。对由禁忌而产生的禁忌语和委婉语，汉、英两种语言在应用中既有相同之处也有不同之处。以语言学理论为基础，对禁忌语和委婉语在产生、性质、含义及社会功能上的联系及区别进行初步研究，有助于了解中西社会不同的民族心态、社会规范和思维方式。

The analysis of taboo language and euphemism in Chinese and

English

Abstract

Taboo is a commonly existing cultural phenomenon among nations in the world which regulates people’s language and social communication .The great difference between Chinese and western culture directly results in the great difference between Chinese and English taboo .So ,taboo exiting both in Chinese and English .With the consideration of the different cultures and customs ,we should avoid using offensive expression: taboo, in international communication. As the taboo words have some deficiencies in the application, it prompted the emergence of euphemism.As the two sides of a coin,taboo and euphemism are connected together with each own feature.The generation and the practical social function of taboos and the euphemisms in English and that in Chinese have similarity and difference as well.Based on the theory of the social linguistics,this paper aims at a comparative cross-cultural research on the features、semantic concept and the social practical function of English and Chinese taboos and euphemisms.
