Abstract:2-Isopropyl-1,3-benzodioxolanewassynthesizedfromcatecholandisobutyricaldehydebyusingfluosulfonicacidresinascatalyst.Theeffectsofratioofreactants,amountofcatalystandamountofdehydratingagentwereinvestigated.Theresultsshowedthattheoptimumprocessconditionswereasfollows:catechol∶isobulyricaldehyde∶catalyst∶dehydratingagentwas1mol∶1.5mol∶10g∶250mL;reactiontemperaturewasrefluxtemperature;reactiontimewasabout4h.Theyieldcanreach92.6%undertheoptimumconditionsandthecatalystcanbeusedrepeatedly.
