Section B

Directions: In Section B, you will hear two short passages, and you will be asked three questions on each of the passages. The passages will be read twice, but the questions will be spoken only once. When you hear a question, read the four possible answers on your paper and decide which one would be the best answer to the question you have heard.

Questions 11 and 13 are based on the following passage.

Tom and Mike like climbing mountains. They like ice climbing, skiing, mountain biking, and other exciting sports. But these sports all need equipment, and the equipment is expensive. They also like to travel to foreign countries, and these trips are expensive. It isn’t easy to get the time and money to go on an adventure, but they find ways to get these things. They find ways to do what they want to do.

For example, Tom and Mike are very good at sports. They are excellent skiers. One day, a ski company asked Tom to test some of their new equipment. They gave him ski equipment and clothes to test. Tom didn’t have to pay for these things. This saves him money. Because Tom and Mike are twins, they can both use the clothes and equipment. This is another way they can save money. But how do they find time?

Sometimes they get tired of working together. It isn’t easy working with a brother, but they have a reason for working. They must save money for an adventure. When they save enough money, Tom and Mike will leave their jobs. They will find new jobs when they come back. Questions:

11. What are Tom and Mike interested in?

12. What did a ski company ask Tom to do?

13. When will the twins stop working?
